NAGAON: The state water resources and information and public relations minister, Pijush Hazarika, took part in a special ceremony on Saturday to distribute certificates and cheques of Rs 25,000 each to 771 Bihu dancers and drummers from the district.
These talented individuals had participated in a grand traditional Bihu dance event held at Guwahati Sarusajai Stadium on April 13 and 14, aiming to secure a Guinness World Record.
The certificate and cheque distribution program was organised at Nagaon Police Reserve Auditorium, in collaboration with the Department of State Cultural Affairs and the Nagaon district administration.
During his address, minister Pijush Hazarika expressed his delight at the success of the mega traditional Bihu dance program, which received special attention and support from chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He emphasised that this event showcased the rich cultural heritage of Assam and earned global recognition for the traditional Bihu dance form.
