DIBRUGARH, Dec 4: The Hindu Kranti Dal (HKD) on Wednesday burned the effigy of Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, at Thana Chariali in Dibrugarh, protesting against atrocities on religious minorities in Bangladesh.
The members of the Hindu Kranti Dal took out a procession from the Hanuman Mandir near Dibrugarh’s old railway station, raising slogans against the Bangladesh government.
“We demand that the Bangladesh government stop atrocities on Hindus as soon as possible. We urge the Indian government to protect the rights of Hindus in Bangladesh. We are ready to protect Bangladeshi Hindus if the government permits us to do so,” said a member of the Hindu Kranti Dal.
The HKD also urged the Bangladeshi government to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens, including minorities, and to provide an environment conducive to practicing their religion.
