Safety Measures for Schools:
Morning assemblies must be held indoors or in shaded areas.
Schools must ensure availability of clean, safe drinking water.
Students should be encouraged to carry water bottles and drink water every half hour.
“Water bells” should be rung at regular intervals to remind students to hydrate.
Electric fans must be functional, and non-operational units should be immediately repaired or replaced.
Outdoor activities should be suspended during this period.
Students may avoid wearing blazers, waistcoats, and ties. In case of discomfort, sandals may be permitted in place of shoes.
Additionally, the directive states that no street vendors should be allowed to operate near school premises, and students must remain within school campuses during recess.
These timely interventions aim to mitigate the impact of the ongoing heatwave and safeguard the health and comfort of students across Jorhat district.
