The initiative, aimed at promoting awareness and early detection of vector-borne diseases, was held at Line No. 1 of the New Addabarie Division and witnessed the participation of around 82 individuals from the local community, according to a press release.

The camp focused on educating participants about the prevention of diseases such as malaria, dengue, Japanese encephalitis, and other health risks associated with insecticide exposure.

It was conducted in collaboration with the Malaria Inspector (MI) team from Balipara Primary Health Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Amitava Mitra, Manager of Addabarie Tea Estate, highlighted the need for community engagement in health awareness initiatives.

“Many often overlook early symptoms like fever or headaches. Our aim through this camp is to empower the community with the knowledge needed to identify symptoms early, take preventive action, and seek timely treatment,” he said.

The MI team, comprising Deep Saikia (Malaria Inspector), Probin Patangia (Surveillance Inspector), and Puja Doley, provided guidance on identifying symptoms such as high fever, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhoea, and joint pain, and encouraged residents to report any such signs promptly to local health authorities or medical centres.

As part of the camp, the team disinfected mosquito nets, sprayed drains to control mosquito breeding, distributed educational pamphlets and brochures, and collected blood samples from 73 individuals using Rapid Diagnostic Kits (RDK).

The awareness drive also emphasised the importance of personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness to prevent the spread of infections.
