Main kingpin of the attack on MP Pradyut Bordoloi identified: IGP Akhilesh Kumar Singh

NAGAON, April 28:  Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IGP, Assam Police on Monday visited the attack scene in Dhing assembly constituency where Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi and Congress MLA Sibamoni Bora were attacked by a gang of unidentified miscreants.

The miscreants came in black dresses with masks on their faces on Sunday last.

IGP Singh took stock about the sudden barbaric attack so far.

During his visit to the spot, IGP Akhilesh Kumar Singh said to the local media persons here that the police had gotten all in detail and assured that the attackers of the Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi and Congress MLA Sibamoni Bora would be arrested soon.

Meanwhile Superintendent of Police, Nagaon Swapnanil Deka spoke to the media persons here and said that one of the attackers has been identified as Imdadul Islam, hailing from Bhuragaon in Morigaon district.

The senior police official added that Imdadul Islam was a Congress worker and was expelled from the party a couple of days back.

He said that a police operation is on in search of him and would be under police net soon.

On the other hand, the Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi along with MLA Sibamoni Bora addressed a press conference Monday afternoon at Nagaon Rajiv Bhavan in which both the Congress public representatives congratulated the Superintendent of police, Nagaon Swapnanil Deka for such swift investigative development.

Both opposition party leaders have condemned such incidents, saying that such activities would crush the dignity of the democracy in the state as well as in the country.
