MORIGAON, Oct 19: In a thought-provoking mental health awareness program held on Saturday at Mahendra Kandali Academy in Morigaon, prominent speakers emphasised the critical role of home and educational institutions in shaping children’s behavior and mental well-being.
Dhananjay Talukdar, an accountant and program officer at Nehru Yuva Kendra, Morigaon, addressed students and parents, stating that the home is the foundational environment for developing essential life skills, including independence, cooperation, and compassion. He highlighted that a child’s primary behavior is significantly influenced by their family setting.
Professor Barnali Hazarika from Morigaon B.Ed College, the chief guest at the event, reinforced the idea that the classroom is vital in shaping national identity. She stressed that the knowledge gained in educational settings cultivates punctuality, honesty, patience, and diligence in students.
The program, attended by principal Sunita Barua, included a welcome speech by Barua and was conducted by Gargi Bharti, a student who eloquently discussed decision-making and developing a resilient mindset for success. Additionally, Namita Devi, a teacher at the school, addressed the importance of a supportive environment and proper guidelines for nurturing children’s personalities.
The event aimed to foster a collaborative effort among parents and educators to strengthen the mental health of children, ensuring they thrive in society.
