KOKRAJHAR, Nov 29: State cabinet minister and former president of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), Urkhao Gwra Brahma, inaugurated the Office of the Reception Committee (RC) for the 57th annual conference of the ABSU and the 56th annual conference of the Kokrajhar district committee ABSU on Friday at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma, in Kokrajhar district.
The annual conference is scheduled to take place on February 6-9, 2025, with a four-day colourful program planned.
A reception committee has been formed with Lawrence Islary, MLA of Kokrajhar East LAC, as chairman and Sangkharlal Brahma as chief convenor to ensure the success of the conference. Several sub-committees have also been formed for the event.
During the event, ABSU president Dipen Boro, vice president Khwrwndao Wary, and general secretary Khanindra Basumatary were present.
Minister Brahma stated that the reception committee office for the annual conference of the students’ union was inaugurated on Friday amidst a large gathering of students’ union members and citizens. He expressed his best wishes for the grand success of the annual conference.
ABSU president Dipen Boro said that the reception committee office for the 57th annual conference of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) was inaugurated at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma, Kokrajhar, in preparation for the grand event scheduled for February 2025.
He mentioned that the Dotma session would be a historic four-day conference featuring educational seminars, cultural showcases, literary and sports competitions, exhibitions, and a book fair.
“Prominent dignitaries, including the Union Home minister Amit Shah, the chief minister of Assam, and the BTR chief executive member, are being planned as invitees, along with a special initiative to host a Nobel Laureate at the education seminar,” Boro said.
The conference, organised in the context of the ongoing implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord, aims to foster unity among communities while evaluating developmental progress in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
He also appealed for collective support to ensure the success of this historic event celebrating peace and progress.
