GUWAHATI, Dec 27: Special Task Force (STF), Assam has apprehended a suspected jihadi from Assam’s Dhubri district, said an official statement on Friday.
The jihadi, identified as 36-year-old Shahinur Islam, was arrested during the ‘Operation Praghat’ against terrorists.
“In connection with that an ongoing investigation under STF PS Case No. 21/2024, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam conducted a successful raid this morning (27th December 2024) at Bandhabpara, Bilashipara under Dhubri District. During the operation, a wanted anti-national jihadi was apprehended,” the statement added.
The STF also recovered various incriminating items such as two books titled Nuriliza, Jana Wazib, one PAN Card, one Aadhaar Card, one Passport and one mobile phone.
In this regard, the police have initiated necessary legal and procedural formalities.
“Necessary legal and procedural formalities are being carried out. The STF remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the state by taking decisive action against anti-national activities,” the statement concluded.
