NAGAON, Dec 26: ‘Sur Sadhana’, a prominent music institute in the small town, organised a distinguished training and lecture program on classical music at the auditorium of Nowgong Girls’ College last Sunday. The event witnessed the presence of noted master of classical music, the centenarian Pandit Satyakrishna Mishra, along with his wife Nirupama Mishra, sons Bidyut Mishra and Pradyut Mishra, and NRI Mitali Benarji Bhoumik, a renowned scholar and vocal artist residing in New Jersey, USA.
Suwagmoni Mahanta, the head of ‘Sur Sadhana’, inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial earthen lamp. The institute members and authorities of Nowgong Girls’ College felicitated the esteemed guests and other attendees.
NRI Mitali Benarji Bhoumik, an expert in classical music, delivered a keynote address on various forms of classical music and provided training to the institute’s students during the program.
The centenarian violinist and expert instrumentalist, Pandit Satyakrishna Mishra, showcased his mastery in classical music by performing on the violin for over half an hour during the event.
The program, mentored by Krishna Kingkar, also had the special presence of Dr Kulen Das, the principal of Nowgong Girls’ College. The solemn event aimed to promote and impart knowledge about the rich traditions of classical music to the students and enthusiasts present.
