‘Surokhit Axomor Babe Bator Nat’ inaugurated

GUWAHATI, Jan 6: A street play-’Surokhit Axomor Babe Bator Nat’ which is an awareness campaign on preparedness during disaster has been inaugurated in Dima Hasao on Monday.

It has been inaugurated on the occasion of International Day of Disaster Reduction.

The awareness campaign is focused on disaster preparedness causes by landslides, lighting, floods and storms organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dima Hasao, in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) at District Commissioner’s Office, Dima Hasao, Haflong.

The programme began with a ceremonial performance of the street play and the flagging off of the Street Play van, inaugurated by DHAC Joint Secretary Rebecca Changsan in the presence of district commissioner cum chairperson of DDMA, Dima Hasao Simanta Kr Das among others.

Addressing the gathering Das emphasised the importance of public awareness on disaster preparedness and response. He also highlighted the significant role and contribution of youth in disaster preparedness and response efforts. The van and the team will tour in different places of the Dima Hasao district, starting from district commissioner’s office, Dima Hasao Haflong.

The team will perform the Play on Market Day at Thaijuwari, Kalachand, Langthing, Haflong, Diyungbra, Mahur, Dihangi, Maibang and Hatikali of Dima Hasao.
