GUWAHATI, Nov 21: The PM Vishwakarma Scheme has emerged as successful for artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs in Assam, with over 6.88 lakh registrations recorded as of November 15, 2024, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday.
Taking to the micro-blogging site X, Sarma stated, “In Assam, over 6 lakh registrations have been made and close to 50,000 trainings completed.”
Launched to empower traditional artisans and micro-entrepreneurs, the scheme has significantly enhanced livelihoods through skill development and financial support.
The Chief Minister lauded the initiative for its transformative impact, highlighting that 48,787 individuals in Assam have successfully completed basic training under the program.
Moreover, 84,331 participants have advanced to Stage 3, reflecting the scheme’s widespread acceptance and success in the state.
Additionally, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme has provided artisans and entrepreneurs with collateral-free loans of up to Rs 1 lakh for 18 months and Rs 2 lakh for 30 months, at a subsidized interest rate of just 5%.
The scheme has been empowering Assam’s traditional artisan community and micro-entrepreneurs by equipping them with essential skills and resources to thrive in today’s competitive markets.
