NAGAON, Sept 1: The three-day ‘mid-term’ session of the central body of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) concluded on Sunday in Nagaon.
The session, which began on August 30, was attended by over a thousand delegates from 30 districts across the state. The final meeting of the ‘mid-term’ session was held on Sunday at the Nagaon District Library auditorium, followed by a ‘delegates meet’ at the same venue.

The meeting was presided over by Palash Changmai, the state president of the youth organisation. The general secretary of the organisation, Ratul Borgohain, outlined the objectives of the meeting.
During the meeting, the organisation’s leaders extensively discussed various pressing issues in the state, including the current situation, and adopted several resolutions. These included the demand for a new land law in Assam, the need for a separate state for the indigenous people of Assam, and the demand for a minimum support price for tea leaves produced by small tea growers.
Additionally, the organisation urged the government to take immediate action to address the flood problem in Assam and provide relief to the affected people. They also appealed to the government to tackle the issue of illegal immigration in the state.
Other resolutions adopted during the meeting included demands for the government to repair major roads in Assam, establish an IIM in Nagaon, and take action to protect the language and culture of the indigenous people of Assam.
Earlier on Saturday morning, a cultural procession was held throughout the small town, featuring various ethnic indigenous cultural groups showcasing their respective cultural heritage and identities. Noted Assamese singers Deeplina Deka and Krishna Moni Nath also took part.
