JORHAT, Oct 8: A collaborative effort between the non-governmental organization ‘PRAYAS’, Sadhoni Puthibhoral, and Sports Club led to the successful organization of an eye camp at Monaimazi goan. The camp aimed to provide vision assistance to those in need by distributing spectacles at a minimal charge.
A total of 100 individuals with impaired vision were examined and provided with spectacles during the camp, which was supervised by Optometrist Himanish Boruah. Notable social activists like Noren Chandra Bora and Abhijit Bothakur, the coordinator of the mission, ‘Distri,’ played instrumental roles in monitoring and assisting the attendees.
The camp commenced at 10 AM and was attended by individuals dedicated to serving the community’s well-being, including Abhijit Bora, Amarendra Bora, Satyajit Bora, and journalist Arabinda Bora.
‘PRAYAS,’ the NGO behind this initiative, has gained recognition for its multifaceted activities. During the critical period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the organization provided financial assistance to over a thousand individuals, offering Rs 1000 each. Moreover, the NGO is planning a mission to provide spectacles to another 1000 people, furthering its commitment to community welfare.
