Chai, Chatters and Chapters: GU launches podcast on academic, cultural legacy

GUWAHATI, June 18: Gauhati University on Wednesday launched its official podcast, ‘Chai, Chatters and Chapters’, designed to highlight the institution’s academic achievements, cultural vibrancy, and research contributions to a global audience.

The first chapter, featuring Vice Chancellor Nani Gopal Mahanta, will stream on the university’s official Facebook and YouTube platforms.

“This podcast is a unique opportunity to share the rich legacy of Gauhati University with a global audience. It will encourage meaningful conversations about our academic pursuits, cultural traditions, and the vibrant spirit of our students and faculty”, Mahanta said.

Mahanta said he was delighted to participate in the first episode and invited the university community to engage with stories that define the institute’s achievements and legacy.

Besides redefining institutional outreach, ‘Chai, Chatters and Chapters’ is envisioned as a dynamic platform to project the university’s academic and cultural ethos beyond conventional boundaries, he added.

A spokesperson for the institute said the series will explore pioneering research endeavours, from breakthroughs in nuclear physics to interdisciplinary innovations, while celebrating the experiences of the university’s diverse community.

It also aims to serve as a knowledge repository by encouraging inspiring conversations on academic discourse, spanning sociology to science, physics to psychology, and research to internships, becoming an invaluable resource for the global academic community.

The episodes will spotlight not only academic pursuits but also highlight student-led efforts under its various sports and cultural clubs, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) cells, bringing to light the vibrant student spirit that contributes to societal development.

Episodes will also explore broader themes of sustainability, global challenges, and the preservation of cultural heritage, aligning with the university’s mission to contribute meaningfully to both regional and global discourses, the spokesperson added. (PTI)
