DIPHU, Jan 23: Team Tiger – an NGO working on humanitarian support and social upliftment in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, have been donating blood to save the lives of several persons.
One of the patients being treated at Diphu Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Fullyfast Teron from Putsari Christian village, Amri, West Karbi Anglong was a testimony.
Teron S/o Jona Teron has been undergoing treatment for jaundice at DMC&H.
Teron was brought at DMC&H on January 7, as he was very weak and needed blood transfusion.
Four units of blood were given, but his condition required more.
At this critical juncture the Team Tiger NGO provided him two units of blood.
Teron’s mother Monju Phangchopi said, “I brought my son here on January 7 for jaundice treatment. According to the doctor’s advice four units of blood were given to my son. We required more blood, but we could not afford it due to our financial condition. In such a difficult situation the Team Tiger members have come to our aid by providing two units of blood to my son. Now my son has regained strength. I really thank the Team Tiger NGO for their philanthropy services.”
Teron is currently pursuing his degree in Diphu Govt. College.
The Public Relation Officer of Team Tiger NGO, Daniel Rongpi said the NGO was formed on October 2, 2024 with the motto ‘Fearless in service, doubtless in kindness.’
The NGO’s mission is to foster a culture of empathy, kindness, and selfless service, regardless of caste, creed, culture, race or religion.
Its vision is to empower individuals to become positive change-maker, embodying the noble spirit of Team Tiger.
The chairman of Team Tiger NGO is Dhonsing Kramsa; general secretary cum spokesperson is Bijoy Bey and Anando Bey as FundRaising Development Officer.
The chief advisers are Dr Janta Pator and Katharson Engti and other advisers include Joel Timung, Ram Rongphar, Herbert Kro and Dr. Habe Teron.
Rongpi informed that 120 persons including the NGO members and well-wishers have voluntarily donated blood in just five months since the inception of the NGO and around 70 individuals (patients) have received free blood.
Other than blood donation drives, Team Tiger has also carried out several social activities like filling up of potholes in front of Diphu Medical College & Hospital for convenience of the general public, providing financial support to weaker section of students for their school and college admissions and school uniforms.
The NGO has also been taking up sports development among the youth and provided sports materials to local clubs, the NGO PRO said.
