MANGALDAI, June 17: A devastating road accident on the busy Nowa River bridge in Punia, Mangaldai, has claimed the life of 30-year-old Chandra Kanta Das, a resident of Gerimari.
The accident occurred around 1:35 pm, when a head-on collision between a Scooty and a Bolero vehicle (registration AS06-AH-9644) abruptly turned a routine journey into a fatal tragedy.
According to eyewitness accounts, the Scooty was travelling towards Punia while the Bolero was heading in the opposite direction towards Mangaldai. The collision was severe, leaving the Scooty rider critically injured.
Despite being immediately rushed to Mangaldai Civil Hospital, Chandra Kanta Das succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family and community in mourning.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter traffic regulation and safer driving practices on congested roadways like the Nowa River bridge. Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
